The concrete pump is a device which is used to transfer the liquid concrete by pumping it. The concrete pump is mainly classified into two divisions. The first type of concrete pump is mounted on the truck. The truck mounted concrete pump is known as Truck mounted boom pump because it uses remote-controlled articulating robotic arm which is known as boom,to place the concrete with pinpoint accuracy.
Generally,the boom pumps are used in large construction project side,as they are capable of pumping at very high volume and also because of the labor saving nature of the robotic arm.
The second type of concrete pump is known as trailer pump or line pump,as it is mounted on trailer. Such type of pumps require steel or rubber type of concrete placing hoses which is mainly attached to outlet of the machine. Those hoses are linked together leading to wherever the concrete need to be placed. The concrete volume that is delivered by the trailer pump is quite low as compare to boom pump. For this reason they are used for smaller volume concrete application.
There are also skid mounted and rail mounted concrete pumps but these are used in very specialized applications like in mines and tunnels.
Concrete pumps provide accurate remote delivery of concrete in confined and inaccessible places. Concrete pumps are very useful and proving an alternate for crane in high rise building construction.
As concrete pumps are able of placing the concrete with great accuracy and controlled volume,this reduces the labor charge according to the concrete pump contractors about 50% as compare to any traditional method.
