Fuel Pump - Feed for Fuel Tank |

The fuel tank is located at the opposite end of the car from the engine,a fuel pump is required to draw the gas from the engine. The fuel pumps are divided into two main categories - they are mechanical fuel pump, which are used in carburetor pumps and electronic fuel pump, which is used in cars with electronic fuel injection system.
A fuel pump is an essential component of a car or other internal combustion engine device. Many times engine does not require any fuel pump at all. They generally rely on the gravity to feed fuel from fuel tank through a line or hose to the engine. But in non-gravity feed design, the fuel pump is required to pump the fuel from the fuel tank to the engine and deliver under low pressure to the carburetor or under high pressure to the fuel injection system.
In many modern cars, the fuel pump is usually electric and located inside of the fuel tank. Positive pressure is created in the fuel line by the fuel pushing the gasoline to the engine. Fuel pump failure is very common, particularly in the cars with electronic fuel injection system. When the fuel pump fails, the car do not start, here in this case the car act as if the car is running out of gas, even when there is gas in the tank.
Fuel pump failure can be verified by checking the fuel delivery end of the system. If no fuel is being delivered to the engine, the fuel pump has most likely failed.
