Hydraulic Pumps Serving Hydraulic Drive System

Hydraulic pump is used in Hydraulic drive system. The Hydraulic pumps are broadly divided into two types - one is Hydrostatic and the other one is Hydrodynamic. Hydrostatic pumps are referred as positive displacement pump. It causes a fluid to move by trapping a fixed amount of fluid in it and then forcing that volume of fluid to the discharge pipe. In this, flow through the pump per rotation of the pump cannot be adjusted. Whereas in variable displacement pumps, which has more complex design, allows the displacement to be adjusted.

Most of the Hydraulic pumps are working in open systems, the pump draws fluid from the reservoir at atmospheric pressure. To avoid any cavitation at the suction end,the suction side of the pump is large in diameter as compare to the connection of pressure side. In multipump assemblies, the suction end is often combined.

When one pump serves many cylinders and motors,a constant pressure is required and the system always needs the full power. It is more economical to give each cylinder and motor its own pump,in this case multi pump assembly is required. Gearpumps can often be obtained as multi pumps. Operating specifications, housing materials and features are all important specifications to consider, when searching for hydraulic pumps.
